In this Wee Weaver Loom Set, you’ll receive four (4) lightweight and portable birch looms which measure approximately 4" x 4 1/2" with a work area of 3 3/4" x 3 1/2". Included in the set are one each of 4 setts/gauges, including 4 ends per inch (4.0 epi), 8.0 epi, 10.0 epi and 12.0 epi. Each wee loom is made of 1/8" birch wood sourced and handmade in Houston, Texas.
The set comes with color photo instructions, a wood tapestry needle, small metal tapestry needle, wee weaving comb, wee pick up stick and a reusable cotton carrying bag.
Including instructions for making a “wee coaster” with and without fringe, the Wee Weaver is a great way to learn the basics of weaving in less than two hours and for using up yarn stash on a variety of wee projects.
Warp requires 4 yards of any weight or thickness (as long as it fits in the grooves) yarn or string. This amount takes into consideration wrapping the warp entirely around the front and back around every slot.
Weft requires about 10 yards of worsted weight yarn. Weft requirements will change with different weights or types of yarn.
We're particularly fond of this table-top yarn swift because it's made in the USA by Beka, a family-owned workshop in Minnesota, making wooden toys, furniture and looms for more than 40 years.
Beka's Natural Hard Maple Yarn Swift features durable metal bearings (also made in the USA) for a consistently smooth winding process. It accommodates a wide range of skein sizes (28" to 72") and yarn types (thin to bulky), sits conveniently on any table top, and eliminates table scratching caused by clamps used to secure other types of swifts.
Ideal for winding twist skeins into balls by hand or with hand-cranked mechanical winders. Electric winders should be used only at low speed.
Assembly is simple and takes just a few minutes; no tools required.
