Pickup Sticks are used to add texture and visual appeal to weaving. They can be used to pick up threads behind your heddle to create different sheds. These pickup sticks are crafted of solid natural silver beech timber. Sold individually.
In November 2018, Ashford came out with a new line of pickup sticks with slightly different dimensions. These sticks are the original sticks, which are no longer in production. Each stick is 1-3/8" wide.
We're particularly fond of this table-top yarn swift because it's made in the USA by Beka, a family-owned workshop in Minnesota, making wooden toys, furniture and looms for more than 40 years.
Beka's Natural Hard Maple Yarn Swift features durable metal bearings (also made in the USA) for a consistently smooth winding process. It accommodates a wide range of skein sizes (28" to 72") and yarn types (thin to bulky), sits conveniently on any table top, and eliminates table scratching caused by clamps used to secure other types of swifts.
Ideal for winding twist skeins into balls by hand or with hand-cranked mechanical winders. Electric winders should be used only at low speed.
Assembly is simple and takes just a few minutes; no tools required.
