My goal, in creating this pattern, was to design a customizable sweater that can be knit at any gauge to fit any dog, using Izzy Knit's exclusive RUFF+TUMBLE DK or another DK weight yarn.
The sweater, itself, is an easy knit. The stitches are simple: K, P, M1L, M1R, k2tog, SSK, K1f&b and German Short Rows What might be intimidating is the math. But trust me when I say, you can do it! Armed with a calculator and the step-by-step Recipe Worksheet included with the pattern, you'll have all the tools necessary to successfully knit a customized sweater for your furry friend.
You'll learn the most about customization if you do the math yourself; however, we also provide links to the Recipe Worksheet online, either as an Excel file or Google Sheet. These spreadsheets will do all the math for you!

Skill Level: Intermdiate. Techniques include knitting in the round and German short rows. Pattern may seem daunting at first, because of the math, but knitters with modest experience who are adventurous and willing to stretch themselves will do well. In the words of one test knitter, “I’ve only been knitting scarves and triangle shawls, nothing with much shaping or directions to follow. Still, I thought of myself as an intermediate knitter until I saw your directions! However, by taking the project one step at a time, it was a piece of cake!”
Size: Customized to your dog’s measurements. Not recommended for deep-chested breeds.
Recommended Yarn: Izzy Knits RUFF+TUMBLE DK (each ball 3½oz/100g [approx 260yd/238m], 30% wool, 70% acrylic, dk weight yarn)
Dogs ≤ 60 lbs (1 ball of each color)
Dogs ≥ 60 lbs (2 balls of each color)
Needles: US sizes 4 & 6 [3.5 & 4.0mm] circular needle, 40" [100cm] long or size to achieve desired fabric.
Our sample sweater was knit using 1 circular cable with interchangeable tips and the magic loop method for small circumference knitting. It can also be worked on a combination of straight needles and dpns.
Gauge: Gauge will be your gauge, as determined by the 2 gauge swatches you MUST knit (see page 2 for details).
One of Izzy Knits’ featured designers, Suzanne Nielsen, created this beautiful Driving on Cloud 9 Mobius Cowl specifically for Jade Sapphire’s spectacularly soft 100% cashmere.
Knit with the 6 mini-skeins in Jade Sapphire’s Mini Ombre Collection (Zageo 6-ply), this kit comes in four (4) hand-dyed colors, ranging from subtle to saturated. Zageo 6-ply is 100% Mongolian cashmere, exquisitely soft, worsted-weight, and hand-dyed in the USA. The combined weight of the 6 mini skeins is 5.3 oz for a total of 325 yards (approximately 54 yards each).
For this kit, Suzanne has graciously given Izzy Knits her Driving on Cloud 9 pattern for free, so you pay only for the yarn. On Ravelry, this pattern sells for $5.00. Pattern provided as a downloadable PDF.

Upside down, inside out, doesn’t matter which way you wear designer Ariane Gallizzi’s Amstel Shrug, it’s always right. The cables are reversible! The shrug is knit bottom up (or top down) and seamed at the armholes. It can be knit in one or two colors.
The center cable symbolizes the river Amstel, which gave the medieval city of Amsterdam its name. The surrounding canals were added later, in the 17th century, and form the famous canal district. This beautiful city was Ariane’s home for 3 years and deserves a design dedicated to it!
