Morgentau is German for morning dew. The idea for the Morgentau Cowl came to designer Ariane Gallizzi on an early morning walk back in her home country of Switzerland. For the first 4 days of her visit, her 2-year-old son was up until the early morning hours due to jet lag! The easiest way to get him to finally fall asleep was to take him for a walk in the stroller. Ariane was exhausted, but the magical sparkle of dew drops she saw on the luscious flowers and bushes during these walks left a lasting impression through the fog of fatigue!
The border is knit flat and joined with a 3 needle bind off to form a circle. Then, stitches are picked up around the edge to knit the cowl in the round.

In the Turicum Shawl by designer Ariane Gallizzi, you use the ends created by knitting stripes to your advantage! Rather than weave them it, you'll turn them into a beautiful beaded fringe. The size of the shawl is adjustable, based on the yarn you use. You can really use any yarn you wish, though you'll have to change needle size accordingly…and make sure you purchase enough beads for the number of rows you knit. In our Izzy Knits version, we used Leading Men's Show Stealer fingering yarn, which produced an extremely soft, drapey shawl with more rows than Ariane's original, but fairly similar dimensions. This lacy, beaded shawl is knit with Bellatrista’s Menta, an amazingly soft yarn you won’t want to put down. Though made 100% from peppermint, this sustainable, vegan yarn is scentless and drapes beautifully. The shawl is knit sideways starting with 3 stitches, gradually increasing to its full length. The beads, which provide just the right amount of sparkle, are pre-strung before each color change.
