Mountain Gods Vest

Suzanne Nielsen

  • The geometric lace design in Suzanne Nielsen’s Mountain Gods Vest was inspired by a brief but lovely stay at “The Inn of the Mountain Gods” in southern New Mexico. She writes, “I’m no expert, but growing up in New Mexico has given me a fascination and respect for the Indians of the Southwest. This resort is run by the Mescalaro Apache Tribe. It was named after The Mountain Gods who are said to have saved two injured people who had to be left by the rest of the tribe as they were fleeing an enemy. The two survived for several days in a cave, after which their injuries were miraculously healed, allowing them to evade capture and reunite with their people.”

A unique cast on and bind off give the Mountain Gods Vest a clean, professional look. Strategic stitch marker placement makes it easy to keep track of your work without having to read the pattern on every row. However, for those who like to read patterns, Suzanne’s is written row-by-row as well.

This stylish vest can be worn upside down, right side up, open, or closed with your favorite shawl pin.

    Sold as a downloadable PDF.
